    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Aston Martin Wilmslow have a fantastic opportunity for a Light Vehicle Technician Apprentice to join the family at their prestigious Aston Martin dealership based in Wilmslow.

This is an exciting role with first-class training at The Aston Martin Training Facility at Gaydon, and outstanding long-term career prospects.

Duties will include:

  • Working alongside qualified Aston Martin Technicians with the investigation, repair and service of vehicles
  • Producing estimates
  • Carrying out diagnostics
  • Warranty work
  • Assisting with MOT's on Aston Martin vehicles
  • Other general technical duties and general housekeeping
  • Providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers

The training will take place eight weeks per year via block release to The Aston Martin Training Facility at Gaydon.

Things to consider

The candidate must be available to start immediately and be able to travel to the workplace according to the working hours. The candidate must be able to attend the block release training weeks at Gaydon 8 weeks per year Please note that anyone under the age of 18 will only work a maximum of 40 hours per week. Any role which exceeds these hours on advert will be amended accordingly to fall in line with the legislation * Please note if the successful applicant is found prior to the closing date the vacancy maybe withdrawn early Please note the 2017 induction on the programme will be in September however you may begin employment in the workplace prior to this The apprentice will be expected to purchase basic tools throughout the apprenticeship duration to build up their own kit.

Training provider

The apprentices' journey begins with the development of the foundation knowledge and skills.

The second step is to carry out routine services and inspections before progressing to diagnosing and repairing complex systems on the vehicle.

Alongside this, apprentices will acquire the capability to strip and rebuild major components and acquire the soft skills and behaviours required to operate with colleagues and customers.

Assessment Includes: On-going assessment of soft skills and behaviours, a behaviour assessment, Knowledge and understanding tests at the end of Gateway 1 and 2, Skills tests at the end of Gateway 1 and 2.

The apprentice, employer and provider are required to maintain a log book that captures progress over the programme. This is followed by the synoptic assessment, of which there are four components: Log book (final year review to assess apprentice's progress), Behaviour Assessment, Knowledge Test (an in-depth, online test exploring knowledge/ understanding of the apprentice) and Skills Test (two-day practical examination of the skills of the apprentice).
