    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Working with the Garage team, the main responsibility will be to arrive on time ready and prepared for work.  Day to day tasks will be to follow instruction and be ready to help out as work load dictates.  Tasks will include:

  • Routine light vehicle maintenance.
  • Removing and replacing vehicle chassis units and components.
  • Fuel, ignition and exhaust systems.
  • Removing electrical units and components.

Things to consider

Saturday working: Some Saturday mornings may be required and overtime, or time taken from hours during the week will be allowed for this, dependent on age and legal working time directives. Wage: You would start on the apprentice wage which could increase according to your performance and your work ethic.

About the employer

We are a very young garage which started in December 2016. We are the only Trustagarage in the St Neots area and believe in making sure the job is done well and professionally. We service and repair vehicles, and we also have a car sales side. We are growing quickly with contract customers and we are also starting to increase the number of private customers. We are looking for a new staff member to work in our team to help us increase the business and to become a key member of the team.
