The review of the drawings is the most important function. This involves checking the drawings and highlighting what our clients are asking us to do; working out the dimensions of walls and floors; and preparing a spreadsheet showing dimensions of areas to clad.

It also involves:

  1. Obtaining costs for non Alma fabrics specified by the clients from fabric companies;
  2. Preparing the quote file on excel and in hard copy;
  3. Liaising with the client on any queries that we have.There is admin involved i.e.
    1. Printing out drawings,
    2. Creating the quote reference,
    3. Obtaining samples of the fabrics to be used
    4. Making sure that all the correspondence relating to the quote is saved in the quote file (both digital and hard copy)
  4. On the job training will be supplied to learn the process of estimating; Liaison with the factory workers to understand the work processes and times involved is essential.

Hours are 8:45 to 18:00 Monday to Friday (40 hours per week).

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Good written and verbal skills
  • Able to communicate with third parties by email and phone
  • Able to write clearly and concisely

Personal qualities

  • Interest in architectural drawings
  • Able to interpret what is required on a project from drawings
  • Able to scale up drawings to work out measurements
  • Good at Excel spreadsheets (as well as Outlook and Word)

Qualifications required

  • GCSE (or equivalent) grade C or above in English and Maths.
  •  You must be eligible to work in the UK.
  • You must be able to speak English fluently.
  • You must be currently living within a commutable distance of this vacancy.

Future prospects

Full-time opportunity may be available if the candidate excels in the role. Higher level Apprenticeship available following successful completion of the initial Apprenticeship.
