    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Our vacancy will include:


  • You will establish and maintain good relationships with all students, parents/carers, colleagues, suppliers, contractors and other professionals.
  • You will assist the school team to ensure the effective operation of the school office including reception area, so that all aspects of the administrative function are conducted efficiently and accurately.
  • You will provide efficient administrative support to her/his line manager and the school’s senior leadership team (SLT).
  • You will support her/his line manager in maintaining communication with governors, professional bodies, outside agencies, other schools and organisations etc. and s/he shall attend to associated queries as required.
  • You will various support administrative procedures and systems, following controls and ensuring they comply with policies and procedures, to include:
    • Club administration
    • Updating school diary
    • Cool Milk and school fruit
    • Leave of absence requests
    • Administration of medicines
    • Maintaining pupil registers
  • You will be responsible for the circulation of incoming mail and outgoing post, taking appropriate action as necessary.
  • You will assist with the maintenance and updating of information held on school database/s including student records, emergency contacts and data required for the completion of returns, for example, for the DFE.
  • You will assist in the entry and extraction of data, the collation and preparation of statistics, management information and reports as required by her/his line manager, governors, auditors, the local authority and the DFE.
  • You will assist with the annual and on-going free school meal applications for students, ensuring procedures are followed and required documentation is obtained from parents/carers, and that registers are kept up to date.
  • You will, in liaison with the Trust Finance Team, assist in the administration of financial systems such as processing orders, school meal takings, and collection of trip monies.
  • You will assist in transferring data safely when database system/s are introduced and/or changed.
  • You will assist in the setting up and maintenance of archive files and historical data.
  • You will provide assistance to staff with regard to administrative matters within the school.
  • You will report technical faults relating to the school database system/s and equipment to the ICT Technician/s in accordance with school reporting procedures.
  • You will ensure that all administrative duties, checks, documentation, reports and returns (internal and external) are completed accurately and within required deadlines.
  • You will ensure compliance within the school of data protection regulations.
  • To answer incoming calls, dealing with requests and enquiries and taking messages as required.
  • You will deal with correspondence promptly and as required.


  • You will attend school events as required.
  • You will participate in school emergencies as required, including evacuation arrangements, locating students and relevant staff, providing contact details and completing necessary documentation.
  • You will attend training sessions and meetings as required.
  • You will keep up to date with developments and changes to school policies and procedures and communicate these to colleagues as appropriate.
  • You will support her/his line manager in providing information to the headteacher, governing body and its committees as appropriate and when required.
  • You will undertake first aid training and responsibilities as required.

Things to consider

We will be interviewing candidates who meet the criteria as they apply and will recruit after a successful interview which may be before the closing date. You will be responsible for your travel expenses to and from your place of work. Therefore, you must have the means to get to your place of work on a daily basis whilst awaiting for your first wages to be paid. Travel Information Closest station is Sittingbourne – 35 minutes to the school. Bus is 351, the bus stops at Sittingbourne Station and then goes on to Bobbing Apple, it is then a 4 minute walk to Timu Academy Trust.

About the employer

The Timu Academy Trust was formed in June 2014, consisting of Iwade School and Bobbing Village School. Both schools work together with an aim to be outstanding in everything they do. Training provider

On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Framework - consisting of the Intermediate NVQ Level, Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS) and the Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR) Workbook. It may be necessary for you to complete Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT – subject to previous achieved grades.

Regular work based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.
