  • Open office in the morning and close up at the end of the day ensuring that the office is secure and all cabinets and drawers are locked. Ensure that the computers are off and all electrical appliances are either on standby or off in line with Company Procedures.
  • Check emails and deal with anything urgent ensuring that all documentation is completed in line with Company Policy and Procedures. When all urgent e-mails have been dealt with then all nonurgent items are to be dealt with in line with Company Policy and Procedures.
  • Answering telephone calls and making calls maintaining a professional manner at all times.
  • Recording all calls in line with Company Procedures. Assisting the Director/Care Manager in liaising with staff and clients to fill shifts.
  • Keeping all manual and computer records up to date ensuring accuracy at all times in line with Company Procedures.
  • Ensuring that staff hours are recorded to enable payroll to be run ensuring all deadlines are met.

Qualifications required

4 GCSEs at grade D or higher including English and Maths, or have achieved a relevant Level 1 qualification, or have relevant experience and be able to demonstrate ability equivalent to, or exceeding Level 1 in English and Maths.

Future prospects

As the company grows there will be offers of promotion with the prospects of office supervisor and office manager.

Things to consider

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Starlight Healthcare Limited provides staff into residential and nursing homes. We have also recently gained our CQC registration and are busy marketing to expand into the home care market. We are a family owned organisation based in Southampton with a small office, but are looking to expand. We pride ourselves on our good reputation as a small friendly company.

Training provider

You will learn through a combination of on- and off-the-job training. You will attend college one day per week during term time and spend the rest of your time earning and learning in the workplace.

The Apprenticeship has a minimum duration of 12 months.

Your progress will be continuously monitored and supported by an Apprenticeship Achievement Officer.
