    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

About the Job Role

Currently in search of a reliable full time Kitchen Apprentice that will take on the challenge of working in a busy kitchen at a fast pace, lots of changes and who will be able to adapt efficiently and accordingly. Week days, week evenings and weekends. Please note you will be required to work every weekend. One to one mentoring from the Head Chef will be provided also, giving the right candidate the opportunity to grow within the business. The right candidate will be a good team player, take instructions effectively and action this accordingly, have good practical ability and an eagerness to learn.

Duties may include but are not limited to: 

  • Preparing food
  • Organising food
  • Cooking
  • Cleaning
  • Dishwashing
  • Stock taking

Pick things up quickly, can prioritise orders, good time management, take instructions effectively, good communicator, good team work ethics and service orientated

Personal qualities

Able to keep up with the fast pace of a kitchen, learns quickly, able to work on own initiative, adaptable to change, working collaboratively with others, striving for excellence and maintaining the high standards/quality of food produced

Qualifications required

5 A* - D GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths

Things to consider

Working every weekend, Saturday and Sunday. Split shifts 10am 3pm and 6pm 9pm. In a small village a short walk from Teynham station, can prove difficult without own transport.
