    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Are you creative and interested in hairdressing and beauty?  We are looking for a keen apprentice to learn about the hairdressing business whilst developing essential skills.

Role and Responsibilities

Your role will include:

  • Shampooing and conditioning clients’ hair
  • Assisting qualified staff to colour, set and perm, or straighten hair
  • Cutting and styling hair
  • Assisting with reception duties, taking and making appointment bookings for clients
  • Keeping the salon clean and tidy, general housekeeping duties

  • You must be reliable and a good time keeper
  • Professional phone manner (training will be given)

  • Must be hardworking and be prepared to learn
  • Friendly and welcoming
  • Polite and professional to clients at all times
  • Have a smart appearance according to salon rules
  • Have common sense and initiative (not be afraid to ask questions)

 

Qualifications required

None necessary, however some shampooing and blow drying experience would be useful
