    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Duties will include such as:

  • Hand tools such as pop riveter, air guns, drills etc
  • Assemble the products from a laminated shell through to fitting to the customers vehicles.
  • Including some electrical training, fitting of other products including bed liners for the vehicle, tonneau covers, tow bars and steel accessories.
  • Also preparing product for dispatch, stock taking and reconciliation and general maintenance

Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): From 1st April 2017 this rises to £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
