An exciting opportunity has arisen to learn and work with the laboratory team in a large successful manufacturing company. Within this role no two days will be the same.

Key Roles and Accountabilities;

General

  • Support a positive can do attitude that inspires and motivates team members.
  • Daily temperature checks.
  • Performing analytical tests on food samples.
  • Daily equipment checks.
  • Photocopying.
  • Reporting low stock items.
  • Answering the telephone and speaking to clients.

Quality

  • Receiving samples and assessing condition before processing.
  • Preparing samples.
  • Maintaining the standards set by the laboratory.
  • Making colleagues aware of any problems.
  • Following the methods and procedures detailed in the Quality Manual

Cost

  • Support to improve the performance of our assets to maximise value, minimise waste and minimise costs.

Delivery

  • Take responsibility for our performance and our decisions. Take action to address problems or failures quickly whilst seeking innovative ways of improving.
  • Entering samples onto LIMS.
  • Entering results onto LIMS.
  • Safety & Environment.
  • Conduct our operations in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
  • Performing daily safety checks.
  • Segregating waste appropriately for recycling.

Communications

  • Internal Communications within your own Department.
  • Promote employee involvement with open communication, team work and co-operation.
  • Making colleagues aware of any problems.
  • Communicating with other team members to ensure tests are completed with minimal delay (e.g. ordering media when required).
  • Internal Communications across Departments within the Company.
  • Talking to internal customers on the telephone and face to face to receive orders for stock items and inform customers of missing samples and samples in poor condition.

Qualifications required

  • 4 GCSE’s (or equivalent) Grade C or above including Maths, English, Science and a technical subject.
  • Must successfully meet the Initial Assessment requirements for the qualification framework by the training provider if relevant.
