Main duties will include:

  • As part of the Grounds team to keep sport pitches across both school sites playable and to the highest possible standard all year round
  • Set up and take down games pitch posts and nettings as appropriate
  • To maintain a high level of grounds presentation across the whole college
  • To be flexible and a team-player (you will be asked occasionally to get involved with tasks that aren't strictly ground care related)
  • To keep the school open in periods of bad weather all year round

Things to consider

The role requires working outdoors in all weather and requires the operation of specific electrical and mechanical equipment. It can be demanding during peak season for the specific sport eg Rugby in Autumn/Winter, Cricket in Summer. The successful applicant will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS clearance (which the Wycliffe will pay for) As part of the Apprenticeship you will need to attend a college course at Pershore, staying away for a week at a time for 10 weeks over the 18-24 month duration of the course.

Wycliffe is an independent co-educational day and boarding school located in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire. Access via the motorway network is convenient (we are 3 miles from the M5) and there is a rail station in Stonehouse (on the main line from London to Cheltenham). Main sports are rugby, football and cricket for boys with hockey, netball and tennis for girls.
