Duties include:

  • Under supervision of the on-site baker and by attending Cornwall College you will learn how to make artisan pies, pastries, cakes, traybakes and other confectionery.
  • Other skills you will learn in this employment are shelf storage and stock control, help with ideas for development of new products, preparation of ingredients and retail and customer service skills.
  • This will be a unique opportunity for the right person covering everything from pastry to pasty making and delicious confectionery.

Qualifications required

Maths and English GCSE’s grade C and above.  This would be useful, to help with measuring ingredients and following recipes

Future prospects

Training will be delivered at the bakery unit at Kilhallon, Par and in partnership with Cornwall College in Camborne. Further opportunities exist for the right applicant

Things to consider

You will need to be quite fit as there is some physicality to the job in accessing and storing ingredients and handling trays of products. There is a regular bus service that passes the lane up to the site at Kilhallon, Par, near St Austell

Kittow Butchers of Kilhallon is home to Mr Kittow's Famous Sausage Co. They are makers of award winning sausages & hogs pudding and producers and purveyors of finest Cornish quality meats. The enterprise runs its own small herd of Pedigree Red Ruby beef cattle and their own Kilhallon herd of Pedigree Dexter cattle on the original farm from where their great great grandad started it all in the late 1800's.
Kittow Butchers at Kilhallon is run by James Kittow who lives on the farm along with his wife Jane and their two children.
