    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

An apprentice electrician is required to join our expanding business. To shadow and work under the direction of the business owner and other qualified electricians. Typical duties include (but is not limited to) the following –

  • Fault Finding
  • Testing and Inspection
  • Chasing of walls ready for containment, conduit etc
  • Bending and installing conduit
  • Working out various calculations
  • Terminations
  • Stock Control
  • Loading/unloading of van and tools
  • Cleaning up during and after jobs

Future prospects

Potential full time employment for the right candidate once apprenticeship comes to an end. We are a growing business and are hoping the employees that are joining us at this stage will have the opportunity to manage a small team of electricians in a few years.

Things to consider

Must be able to travel to main office everyday without issue. Own transport is preferred but not essential. Heavy lifting and manual work is a big part of the job requirements. Occasional early starts and late finishes. On various sites to include domestic houses, offices, schools, industrial units, often outside working, could potentially be noisy environments and small spaces such as lofts.
