    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

    8.30am - 4.30pm, 1 hour for lunch Monday - Thursday 8.30am - 12.30pm Fridays 4pm - 7pm Saturdays Sunday off tea breaks and time for training included.

Working alongside others at the stables, you will be asked to join in all the usual stable activities from, turning out, mucking out, preparing for the horse walker, grooming, show preparation, handling stallions and youngstock, helping livery clients with their horses. If you are arider then there would be riding on some of our own experienced jumpers and dressage horses to include hacking. Other aspects being foaling and Artificial Insemination.

It's a full on but rewarding role where you are part of a very tight team.

GCSEs in Maths and English desired.

The possibility to compete at either dressage or jumping. Also to train for yard manager position.

Things to consider

We are on a limited bus route but could offer accommodation to the right candidate. Possibility for own horse also. The job is demanding and tiring but incredibly rewarding. A must have is decent footware and a decent riding hat even if not riding as you will be handling youngstock. Important Other Information Training on the Apprenticeships Programme for 16 to 18 year olds is a priority and fully-funded by Government. Training for Apprenticeships for those over this age is part funded, with employers expected to make a part or full contribution. The National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the National Minimum Wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent training. About the employer

We are a small, friendly stud and livery stables who breed sports horse for all disciplines, but our main focus being dressage and jumping. The position we have available will cover all aspects of horse care, Stallion handling, breeding, foaling, some riding, show preparation and so much more!
