    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Lewis James is a young exciting busy Salon looking for a passionate and enthusiastic individual to join their expanding team. If you’ve always dreamed of a career in the Hairdressing Industry and live local to the Westhoughton area, then this is the position for you.

As an Apprentice you will receive training in all aspects of hairdressing and will assist the stylists in the day to day running of the salon.

As an Apprentice your duties will include:

  • Providing outstanding customer service to Clients in the Salon
  • Performing reception duties
  • Learning a variety of Level 2 hairdressing skills
  • Shampoo and conditioning of client’s hair
  • Taking part in set training
  • Maintaining salon health and safety – including maintaining and clean and tidy salon.

Desired skills

Good communication skills, friendly, confident, self-motivated, able to use own initiative, flexible and not afraid of hard work.

Personal qualities

Smart appearance, Good personal Hygiene, Evidence of punctuality and attendance, able to work alone and as part of a team.

Qualifications required

No prior skills needed however an A-C Grade in English and math or a Grade 4 and above would be an advantage.

Future prospects

On completion of your Level 2 to the Standard of the Employer you may be asked to stay with the company to complete your Level 3
