    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

You will need to provide a high quality reception and administrative service so a friendly and professional client facing and telephone manner is essential. Duties will include:

  • General office duties including dealing with incoming post, photcopying, printing, filing, scanning, laminating, creating and sending documents and letters
  • Answering the telephone
  • Dealing with clients face to face
  • Ordering stationary and refreshments
  • Setting up rooms for courses and exams, completing paperwork for required for invigilating exams.
  • Providing administration support to all members of the team as required

Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.30 per hour (From October 1st 2016 this will be increasing by 3% to £3.40 per hour). This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
