Working in a care home for older people.

Helping residents with their physical and personal care. This will include helping them with washing, dressing, bathing, eating and serving meals.

Helping residents with social and recreational activities.

Administering medication, after training.

Contributing to care plans and completing health related records.

It could be your first job or returning to work after a career break or changing directions.

Qualifications required

 GCSEs grade C and above including English and Maths or equivalent

Future prospects

This can be the start of a rewarding career. You will gain nationally recognised qualifications. On successful completion of the Apprenticeship you will move into a Qualified Care Worker position with the possibility of a relief management post. Our management development programmes enable the right people to rapidly progress into management roles. We have a large number of homes in a small geographical area so there are job opportunities for those willing to travel within the local area.

Things to consider

This is a full time position offering various shifts over a 24 hour period. The early shift usually starts at 7.30am. The late shift usually finishes at 9.30pm. You will be working with people who live with dementia and/ or are physically frail. You must complete an initial health questionnaire and complete the Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS).

This is a great introduction to care of older people.
