The role is for an assistant Greenkeeper, learning all the necessary skills to become a fully qualified Greenkeeper.
Being a good team member, as well as being able to use own initiative is key for this role.
Using a range of equipment and machinery safely
hazard, environmental and ecological operations including bunker maintenance
planting turf, trees and shrubs

Qualifications required

Entry onto the apprenticeship is subject to a thorough initial assessment to establish course suitability. Applicants should have at least 5 GCSEs including English and Maths at grades A-D or 9- 3. Apprentices need to be employed for minimum of 30 hours a week in the industry with a contract of employment. Evidence of qualifications will be required.

Future prospects

On completion of the apprenticeship, providing the applicants showed commitment and a full time position could be offered, with the possibilities to progress their career long term.

The Job will be based outdoors all year round, using machinery.

Training provider

Qualification: Apprenticeship Standard in Golf greenkeeping
College attendance: Will be required to attend college master classes on some occasions
Training for all job specific tasks will be given. In addition the apprentice will have the support and guidance of a qualified assessor from the college, who will make on-site visits every 6-8 weeks. There may be the occasional need to attend either the Otley or Easton campus for short training courses and tests.

Pay Rates: The current NMW rate for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour with effect from 1st April 2017. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training. Working Week: Summer Hours: Hours of work: 6am – 2pm including 30minute lunch break as well as a 15 minute break.
Winter Hours: 7am – 3pm
2.5 hours on a Saturday or Sunday weekly, will add up to 40 hours per week
