Abraxas is an award-winning cook shop, selling a huge range of cookware, electricals, knives, specialist bakeware, sugar craft, gadgets, utensils and textiles. Full training will be given on sales techniques and the features and benefits of our ranges. As well as in depth training on our EPOS (stock control) system together with the end of day cashing up procedures.

Your duties will include;
•Customer service
•Use of tills, processing both cash and card payments
•Assisting with deliveries
• Customer queries
•Assisting shoppers to find goods and products
•Give advice and guidance in the retail environment
•Keeping up to date with special promotions
•Creating promotional displays to up-sell products
•Take part in keeping the store clean and tidy

As an Apprentice you will be included on a Level 2 Retailer Qualification. Your Qualification will be delivered by an Award Winning Training Provider who will support your learning and development throughout your Apprenticeship. This will involve a Vocational Learning Advisor coming to visit you on a regular basis to deliver the training and guide you through your Apprenticeship.

Basic knowledge of computing with regard to tills and PC's and the ability to understand and operate our EPOS system at the till point.

Future prospects

We have five shops at The Heart of The Shires Shopping Village including a Cook shop, China & Glass, Garden, Deli and two clothing shops. After initial training there will be potential for the right candidate to work in the other outlets to gain more experience and have some variety.

Things to consider

You will be required to work one day of the weekend each week on a rota basis. You will be required to work 35 hours per week and a lot of time will be spent on your feet. You must work well within a team, be flexible, hands on and not shy of hard work. We are not easily accessible by public transport so own transport is essential for the position.

About the employer

We are a family retail business which began in 1996. The two business partners have daily involvement. We employ 20 members of staff at our Heart of The Shires operation. We have won many awards and are proud of our business. We are a specialist shop and strive to always go the extra mile to help our customers.
