The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Intermediate Level Apprenticeship
My client is an established domiciliary care provider/agency working in West Midlands area who aim to provide an exceptional care service to those individuals of the community who require extra assistance whilst living in their own home.
They operate home care services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year and also in case of emergencies.
My client is currently contracted with Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council, Sandwell & West Birmingham CCG, Birmingham City Council, Coventry City Council, Wolverhampton City Council & Staffordshire Council to provide domiciliary care services in their respective areas. They currently provide domiciliary care services in all ‘DY’ postcodes (DY1 – DY9) including Dudley, Stourbridge, Hagley, Tipton, Brierley Hill, Kingswinford, Cradley Heath, Wall Heath, Sedgley, Netherton & Halesowen. They also cover surrounding areas including Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Coventry, Staffordshire, Solihull & Sandwell (West Bromwich, Oldbury, Smethwick, Wednesbury, Great Bridge, Tividale).
- Filing, faxing and using the photocopier as well as other clerical duties
- Dealing with and responding to emails and other queries
- Answering the telephone
- Collating and updating spreadsheets etc
Requirements and prospects
- Good with numbers
- Good spelling, punctuation and grammar
- Good organisational skills
- General good IT skills with MS Office including spreadsheets
- Confident communicator
- Team player
- Friendly and outgoing
- Can work well in a team and also use own initiative
- Takes a genuine interest in business processes
