The successful candidate would work alongside community staff/coaches and shadow many of the activities and coaching groups. Some of the tasks that they would be involved in are likely to include:

  • Assisting Lead Coaches at coaching sessions
  • Taking registers and signing people in and out of sessions
  • Assisting with coaching at schools in curriculum time
  • Assisting with after school clubs, junior kickers and multi-sport groups
  • Learning about session planning, organisation and football/multi-sport development
  • Assisting with admin and monitoring & evaluation of projects
  • Session preparation including equipment organisation and storage
  • Assisting at community events and tournaments including pre event organisation.

It is essential that the candidate would be prepared to work evenings and weekends as this is when many of the coaching groups and sessions are held.

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

Keen interest in Football, sport and physical activity. Have good communication skills verbally and IT based. You must possess the desire to work with groups of young children and have the interpersonal skills required to do this.

Personal qualities

Enthusiastic, friendly, reliable, able to use own initiative and work within a team. You must have an interest in football/sports. This will include some evening work and would include weekends.

Confident working with children and good organisational skills or willing to learn these skills

Qualifications required

6 GCSE's Grade C/4 including both Maths and English Language

This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
