    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

To support the 3 current chef's in the kitchen of the busy pub.

Duties will include:

  • Job shadowing and learning from workplace mentor
  • All aspects of housekeeping and food hygiene
  • Preparing and cooking starters
  • Preparing and cooking desserts

As the role progresses and more training is given they will then be involved in preparation and cooking of all dishes from the menu.

  • Must have a passion for food and coooking.
  • Must be keen to learn and train to become a Chef.
  • Must be hardworking and reliable and have good timekeeping skills.

Personal qualities

  • The ability to work as part of a team and be flexible due to the hours and weekend work.

Qualifications required

Must have a good level of Maths and English.

Future prospects

Upon completion of the level 2 there may be an option to progress onto the level 3 and/or gain full time employment with the company.

Things to consider

Must be able to travel to the company (YO19 6HA) and consider that there is weekend and evening work included. The latest finish will be 9pm. The number 415 bus stops directly opposite the pub.
