Following our recent expansion and our current apprentices success we have an exciting position available! This is a fabulous opportunity for someone to join our Team as an apprentice groom, the job is working as part of a small team. Learning everything about how to train dressage horses.

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Intermediate Level Apprenticeship
You would be learning all aspects of the business from riding, lunging, feeding, competition grooming, although a non riding position there will be riding opportunities for the right person. The right person will be reliable, diligent, work from your initiative and able to work as part of a small team so have a good sense of humour! You will be required to work every other weekend.
You will be training towards a work-based Level 2 Diploma in Horse Care (for a groom) This qualification offers a higher commercial and professional standard than College based Diplomas, due to the learning happening within the work place.
The qualifications are run by Reaseheath Equine College where you will spend one day each week. This position is full time and the national apprenticeship minimum wage, this is NOT a live in position please make sure you can get to our yard.
Duties will include:
- Mucking out
- Turning out and bringing in
- Show preparation
- Clearing up animal mess
- Tack cleaning
Requirements and prospects
- Able to muck out an advantage but all training will be given.
- Hard working.
- Team player.
- Use initiative.
- Good sense of humour.
- GCSE (Grade C or above) or equivalent would be an advantage, however not essential as functional skills are offered as part of the framework.

- Reaseheath Training will be the apprenticeship provider for this Level 2 apprenticeship.
- The employer will give guidance and support throughout. The Framework of your apprenticeship may include Functional Skills in Math’s, English & ICT. Reaseheath Training also offer optional extra industry qualifications at additional cost.
