Provide practical assistance of the highest quality to frail elderly adults with dementia and other mental health conditions in a residential/nursing care home by assisting them with tasks of daily living whilst encouraging them to achieve maximum independence. Working with residents to maintain their independence by creating opportunities which take into account their own personal choices and preferences.

  • To support residents to develop a range of relationships within the home.
  • To work co-operatively with colleagues and other professionals
  • To assist residents in maintaining hygienic standards and to comply with health and safety requirements.
  • To assist residents by serving meals and beverages.
  • To assist residents all with aspects of personal care,

Including bathing, dressing, toileting and the disposal of soiled clothing/incontinence dressings (over 18s only)

  • Help residents with mobility problems and other physical disability.
  • Make and change beds, assist in the care of empty commodes and some cleaning of rooms.
  • To be aware of and support residents with their emotional, cultural, spiritual and practical needs.

At all times to adhere to the home's policies and procedures.

Qualifications required: GCSE (or equivalent) ; Maths, English, ICT (or Science) Grade C or above

We want candidates who are looking for continual development and you must be passionate about working in care.

You will not be required to deliver personal care if aged under 18.

You will be required to undertake a DBS check

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Full on the job training to be provided and one day a week college attendance for underpinning knowledge. Candidate will work towards a full Level 2 apprenticeship in Health and Social Care functional skills, and end-point assessment.

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is �3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
