The Administrator Apprentice role is to provide generalist administrative support to the department managers to ensure all aspects of employee administration are completed accurately, efficiently and in a timely manner. Strict confidentiality and discretion are key to this role as is a genuine interest in Business Administration and a desire to learn.

Daily duties may include:

  • Assisting with the management, maintenance and filing/archiving of all records relating to the employment lifecycle, e.g. holiday requests, absence records, new starter documents, appraisals documents, etc.
  • Using company specific software to upload and manage documents
  • Liaising with various departments regarding HR and general admin related matters
  • Assisting with recruitment activities, such as contacting candidates and confirming interviews
  • Assisting with new starters and on-boarding activities
  • Cross-checking allowances and overtime submissions
  • Recording absences on a spreadsheet database
  • Photocopying and scanning
  • Receive, make and divert calls as required, taking messages where appropriate
  • General administrative tasks

Essential Criteria

  • Good standard of English and Mathematics, GCSE grades C or above (or equivalent)
  • Microsoft office computer skills, inc. Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Previous administration experience

Things to consider

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
