As an Apprentice Sales Advisor you will be the first point of contact and will provide exceptional customer service to our customers and act as an ambassador to the Savers mission, which is, to ensure our customers understand that we aim to have the most competitively priced health and beauty products on the high street, from a clean, crisp, contemporary store setting with friendly, efficient and trained colleagues.

Breakdown of responsibilities

Sales
Be proactive and enthusiastic and never accept less than your best!
•    Understanding what the Savers customer wants
•    Strives to be an expert in active selling, working hard to achieve targets
•    Is able to close a sale efficiently and expertly
•    Uses knowledge to sell products to customers
•    Knows and highlights promotional offers to customers
•    Introduces additional items to complement the customer purchase and increase sales

Store Operating Profit (SOP)
Work hard to reduce shrinkage, damages, till errors and costs.
•    Supports the store management team in delivery of the store KPIs of sales, shrinkage and wages, where possible
•    Understands what impacts on shrinkage and what action to take to minimise losses
•    Is able to complete tasks set in a timely and efficient way
•    Shows due diligence when completing till operations and cash management
•    Adheres to policies and procedures manual
•    Ensures standards are maintained on the shop floor and back areas to minimise risks
•    Communicates any concerns to the store management team

Customer Service:
Be approachable and enthusiastic in delivering excellent customer service to every customer, every day! Knowing your customer, understanding your customers' needs, exceeding your customers' expectations.
•    Champion the Savers price promise
•    Provide quick, friendly and efficient service to the customers
•    Resolve customer queries so that high standards are met at all times
•    Take an interest in Savers products and offer advice and assistance to customers
•    Can confidently handle more than one customer at a time, delivering a great service to all
•    Follows through with all customer issues to check they are dealt with effectively and efficiently

Health and Safety:
•    Take reasonable care of the health and safety of yourself and of others who may be affected by what you do or not do at work
•    Co-operate with the employer on health and safety matters
•    Not misuse any equipment that is provided for safety purposes
•    Follow instructions from the employer on health and safety matters and attend relevant health and safety training
•    Report hazards and defects observed in the workplace
•    Report any accident, injury or near miss in the workplace

People:
Be approachable and work as part of a team
•    Create positive relationships with the management and store team
•    Escalate issues and situations within the store team to the store management when appropriate
•    Offer guidance and support to other team members

To come on board as a Savers Apprentice Sales Assistant, you would ideally have the following: 

• Basic literacy and numeracy skills to enable you to complete a Retail Skills Apprenticeship Level 2. 
• Enthusiastic and with a flexible approach to working in a busy environment 
• A passion for retail and customer service 
• A professional and smart appearance 
• Willingness to go that extra mile and succeed 
• An ability to apply learning in the workplace 
• Be committed to learning new skills 
• Be dedicated to complete the apprenticeship qualification 

You must be able to work full time and full flexible with days and hours.

Things to consider

The key dates are to be used as a guide only. Should the right candidate be found, this vacancy may close early. The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
