    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Scaffold is usually made of metal tubes, fitting and metal or timber platforms, put together by scaffolders so that workers can reach the parts of the structure they're working on.  Safety is paramount, both for the people working on the scaffold and those below.This role will be initially based in the Scaffolding Yard on the outskirts of Exeter for 6 months and then upon successful completion of the 6 month period they would be signed up as an apprentice and sent onto an Approved Apprenticeship which will mean staying away for two weeks at a time, possibly in Norfolk.  The apprentice will be supervised and trained by a fully competent scaffolder who will provide constant support and site training on a number of new build sites and domestic properties around Devon.

Applicants need to be enthusiastic, well organised, self-motivated, and punctual.  You need to be able to work independently as well as part of a team. The apprentice will be expected to be reliable, honest and hardworking they will be someone who takes pride in their work.

Qualifications required

There are no set entry requirements, although GCSEs or equivalent in Maths and  English  may be helpful for calculations and theory.
