This is a varied role which would include:

  • Assisting with general servicing and maintenance
  • Replacement of service items such as oil and air filters
  • Overhaul of braking systems
  • Replacement of brake pads and discs
  • Please note these tasks are carried out only when the learner is at a suitable level of competence and while supervised.

These will all be carried out under supervision and the learner will progress as they reach a suitable level of competence.

Minimum of / expected to achieve 3 GCSE's or equivalent (this includes A-D in Maths and English).

Future prospects

For the successful candidate there may be the opportunity to progress onto the Level 3 apprenticeship.

Things to consider

Please consider the distance of travel when applying for an apprenticeship vacancy. If you live outside of a reasonable commuting distance from the place of work an explanation of your travel plans will be expected within your application. The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
