Duties include:

  • designing signs and working to pre-prepared designs
  • measuring and calculating signage sizes and layouts
  • preparing surfaces
  • using digital technology such as printers and plotters to produce lettering/graphics/logos
  • cutting out and building plastic/metal letters, logos and 3D shapes
  • applying paint backgrounds by brush, spray or roller
  • attaching graphics to backgrounds (if assembling a moulded sign)
  • bending acrylic into shape

Things to consider

Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for £3.50 (from 1st April 2017) per hour. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. Expected Apprentice Duration: At least 12 months
