Duties will include:

  • Preparing a range of dishes from fresh ingredients each day from scratch for corporate events, individual events such as weddings and conferences and event venues such as Spetchley Park Gardens, the Lido and River Boat and various client locations throughout Worcestershire
  • Dishes include everything from gourmet dinners, canapes, cold and hot buffets, soups, quiches, to baking scones, cakes, making choux pastry - a huge variety each day depending on the client needs.
  • Opportunity to shadow other aspects of the business to learn event catering and on site customer facing catering
  • Assisting Chef to prepare client menues including cost efficient decision making and developing business skills

Qualifications required

Level 2 NVQ Professional Cookery or equivalent experience is desired as it would be good to start with some basic knowledge of food and cookery techniques, but the main thing is to be willing to learn and progress.

The aim is to develop someone to join the business on a permanent basis and become a reliable member of the team.

Things to consider

Preparation and baking of all food is done from scratch using fresh ingredients at the Food Production kitchen in Norton each day, but there is also an opportunity to work at events serving the food to guests and clients as well including weddings, event functions, catering locations such as Spetchley Park and River Boat and supporting film and music companies with their catering needs. Must be able to travel to work in Norton and be prepared to start early each day. Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour from 1st April 2017. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent training.
