Under the guidance of the In-Room Dining Manager/Supervisors, the In-Room Dining Server will be responsible for providing a personalized service by adhering to the Food and Beverage brand standards and by engaging with our guests and creating memorable experiences for them. He/she will maintain the cleanliness and organization of all supplies, equipment and work areas in order to ensure the comfort and safety of our guests and colleagues. He/she will ensure that the In-Room Dining team achieves profitability and growth in line with our core values at all times.


To maintain complete knowledge of:

  • Departmental and divisional brand standards, policies and procedure 
  •  Hotel/rooms layout
  •  Table and amenities set up
  •  All liquor brands, cocktails, beers and non alcoholic beverages as well as assigned glassware and garnishes
  •  Particular characteristics and descriptions of every champagne and wine by the glass on the wine list
  •  All menu items, preparation method/time, ingredients, sauces, portions sizes, garnished, presentation and prices; daily menu specials and unavailable items
  •  Correct maintenance and use of equipment
  •  Awareness of daily arrivals/departures, VIPs, groups
  • All hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to accurately respond to guest inquirie


  • To be aware of and apply the procedures concerning hotel fire and safety/emergency procedure


  • To apply the necessary precautions with regards to the hotel food safety and hygiene standards


  •  Ensure personal grooming and conduct according to hotel standards
  •  Check schedule and ensures punctuality at work
  •  To fulfil daily duties as defined by the respective checklists
  • To ensure that all equipment is ready for service according to business needs
  • To maintain cleanliness and organization of IRD pantry, storage areas and other back of house areas
  •  To collect requisitions and replenish par levels for supplies and equipment according to the FIFO (first in – first out)
  • To ensure glass, china and silverware are polished, spotless, free of stains and chips
  •  To ensure breakage, damage of loss of glass, china, silverware and linens is avoided and recorded
  •  To server food and beverage according to the sequence of service and brand standards
  •  To anticipate guests needs, respond to them promptly
  • To answer the telephone within 3 rings, using correct telephone verbiage, etiquette and always with a smile
  • Practise economy of food, beverage, paper supplies, electricity and water (practise recycling whenever possible)
  •  Check inventory for daily requisitions
  •  Obtain customer feedback during service to ensure satisfaction
  •  To relay any customer complaints to Manager/Supervisor
  •  Assist in any other tasks as assigned by manager/Supervisor
  • To create engaging experience with the guests all the time
  •  To be aware of the daily revenue and cover forecasts in order to achieve the maximum profit for the company


  • To understand outlet’s business target
  • To be aware of departmental promotion plan and familiar with hotel products
  • To take complete ownership of all assigned duties and responsibilities and report any deficiencies to the Manager/Supervisor

The salary for this position is £20,048.00 plus service charge.

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

Ability to stand for long periods of time without sitting. Carry, push, pull objects/trays/trolleys

Fluent in English (both oral and written), additional languages would be an advantage

Qualifications required

None rewuired but Relevant In-Room Dining experience in a similar role in 4* or 5* hotels an advantage along with  Experience in a 5* star London hotel

A good knowledge of food and beverage

 Good working knowledge of Micros point of sale software

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Training provider

 Hospitality Team Member Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard, this is assessed through a combination of on programme assessment and also end point assessment. 

Functional Skills in Maths and English will need to be underatken dependant upon previous experience.

This will be workbased learning,tutor visits at the hotel at mutually arranged times every 3-4 weeks, one tutoring sessions with you  Access to an online E-Portfolio system to complete the written work required for the qualification.
