Things to consider

Please make sure that you are able to travel to work each day. Working in a Salon is tiring and means being active all day. Being on time is especially important as you don’t want to keep clients waiting and you must be flexible and be prepared to be working long hours. You will need to be able to work flexible hours, such as late evenings and weekends. From 1st of April 2017 the National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 or over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. Those between the ages of 19-24 who are in their second year (or third year) need to be paid the National Minimum Wage for their age bracket. In April 2016 the new National Living Wage was implemented and therefore if you are over the age of 25 and in your second or third year of an Apprenticeship you will be entitled to be paid the National Living Wage. About the employer

Cutting Edge Ottery was opened in 2004, a small salon with one backwash 2 styling mirrors and a couple of comfy chairs. On the first day of trading I was so excited but scared witless thinking no one would turn up. But turn up you all did! Within 4 weeks a local salon had closed resulting in me taking over the salon, and employing an apprentice, Adele, who is still working for us after 13 years! Another of our stars is Stephanie is our Manageress. She has worked for us for 10 years.
