The GoSkydive Apprenticeship Programme will not only offer an exhilarating training programme, it will also teach candidates how to deliver a first-class customer experience, in particular for first-timers, which is GoSkydive’s specialism. 

Candidates will learn all there is to know from sales, customer service, photography and video editing, health and safety through to the tandem skydive skills themselves. All tandem skydiving licenses and ratings will come from the British Parachute Association.

The two-year programme will provide apprentices with a robust skydiving training programme, introducing them to the many different skills required. Apprentices will complete 50 skydives in just the first six months, and up to a further 200 jumps in the following six months, learning and practicing skills including parachute handling, freefall, camera flying and freefall photography.

Throughout the 2 year programme, apprentices will gain skills in all areas of the business including but not limited to:

  • Sales
  • Customer Service
  • Business Administration
  • Photography and Video Editing
  • Ground Handling
  • Dropzone (Tandem Skydive Centre) Management
  • Skydiving specific first response training

Skydive Specific Training Including:

  • Accelerated Freefall Training
  • 300 skydives
  • Parachute handling skills and improving freefall skills with particular focus on camera flying skills
  • Focus on flying relative to tandem pair
  • Complete all requirements for C license, demonstrating a high level of competence

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Some level of customer service experience most likely from a retail or hospitality environment
  • An active interest in sport and or outdoor activities and pursuits

Qualifications required

A minimum of 5 GCSE’s grade C or above including Maths and English.

A relevant tertiary qualification; this could be in sport, customer services, hospitality, tourism or any area that the candidate can clearly align with the role.

Future prospects

After completion of the 2 year apprenticeship there will be a number of options these would include but would not be limited to: The option to take the ‘tandem instructors rating’ and continue as a ‘tandem skydive instructor’. Begin a commercial pilots license.

Things to consider

Must be able to get to and from the place of work in a safe and timely manner. This is a constantly running advert, GoSkydive will be shortlisting and conducting interviews on a regular basis. The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
