    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

As a Business Administrator with De Groot Fresh Produce UK Ltd your role would cover all aspects of administration in the accounts department.

To include but not limited to:


  • Customer invoicing.
  • Receiving and posting supplier invoices.
  • Filing.
  • Credit control.
  • Banking/receiving payments (later in the employment after settling in).


  • Preparing supplier payments (both UK and overseas suppliers, payments in GB£, Euros and US Dollars).
  • Sales controls (later in the employment after settling in) this covers closing of consignments and checking profitability.

As part of a small team the candidate will have to be able to have:

  • An easy going and friendly personality.
  • A willingness to learn.

Qualifications required


  • 5 x GCSE Grade C and above (or equivalent)
  • Computer skills


  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

Future prospects

On going training and development encouraged by the employer which will give the applicant the opportunity to move on to a full time job.

Things to consider

Your working week will be Monday – Friday 8am – 4pm with one hour for lunch. The start time is non-negotiable however, if all daily tasks are completed you may be able to leave early on occasion in the afternoons. Although there are separate offices for the trading and administration department the general environment is quite robust, the successful candidate should be open minded and not be easily offended or sensitive. Social Media usage at work: Unless it is to do with work, the general manager does not allow staff to use social media at work. Phones should be switched off during office hours.
