    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Reporting to a senior engineer you will learn the skills to become a qualified air conditioning engineer.  You will need to be enthusiastic and committed.

Your day to day duties and training will be based onsite and will be supported by college studies.

You will be working alongside our engineers on our client’s sites carrying out the installation of air con equipment, servicing, maintaining and repairing air conditioning systems.

You will be assisting an engineer in first fix, wiring and commissioning.

The ideal candidate should have the following qualities:

  • Good attention to detail.
  • Hard-working & committed.
  • Punctual and organised.
  • Polite and courteous.

Be willing to be flexible to working hours - this is a must due to the nature of the industry- Self-motivated –Early starts and potentially working away.


Requirements and prospects

  • Good understanding of mechanical and electrical principles.
  • Manual dexterity and physical ability to carry out mechanical work.

Qualifications required

  • Previous experience preferred.
  • A driving licence would be needed by the end of the apprenticeship in order to operate independently.
  • CSCS card.
