You will be working with a young team that cover a vast spectrum of highly specialised skills for a leading company that designs, Manufactures and installs aluminium and glass shop fronts.

A normal day would include:

  • Maintaining the tidiness of your work area and tools.
  • Working with a mentor who will demonstrate and assist you in learning how to read and understand design drawings, how to work out measurements and measure correctly and accurately using different methods, understanding and working with the different aluminium profiles and sections that go into making up doors, windows and frames, understanding and recognising the different types of locks, handles and furniture, plus weather and draught seals.
  • In addition, you will get to understand the different types of glazing and safety glass that go into these products and the colour codes involved in powder coating.
  • You will also be shown the correct way to handle power tools, hand tools and bench tools such as pillar drills and chop saws.
  • You will be shown the correct use of PPE which will be worn correctly at all times and maintained.
  • You will be expected to adhere to the safe practices within the workshop and around the factory in general, not only to maintain your own safety, but that of your colleagues as well.
  • The aim of your apprenticeship is to get you confident and proficient enough to accept a project from the design drawing and take it through all its stages to a completed door, window or frame that you proudly sign off as a quality product.

Comply with all Health and Safety requirements as instructed on induction and throughout your apprenticeship program. Be proactive at reporting potential hazards.

  • Following the successful completion of the 18 month manufacturing apprenticeship, the Company would continue training to ensure good all round competency in every aspect of the production and fitting services.  They fully recognise that apprentices will be the future of the business.

  • Full training and support will be provided by our expert training and assessment staff at The Skills Company. A comprehensive training program will be developed by Shop Front Group for the Apprenticeship and beyond.
