The Apprentice Chef positions are to support the current kitchen staff if the running of the busy kitchen.

Duties will include:

  • General food prep and cooking, to begin with making: Starters, Salads, Sandwiches and Desserts.Will make more dishes once trained.
  • Will complete full job shadowing and mentoring from the Chef.
  • Will be involved in stock ordering and stock rotation.
  • All aspects of housekeeping and keeping the kitchen clean and tidy.

Desired skills

Somebody with some Industry experience would be ideal (this is however not essential)

Must be hardoworking, keen to learn and train and be relaible.

Must be flexible due to the hours and weekend work.

Personal qualities

  • Must have good communications skills.
  • Must have good listening skills and be able to take instruction.
  • Must be able to work well as part of a team but equally as well alone.
  • Must have a passion for food & for cooking.


Qualifications required

  • A good level of Maths and English is required
  • Food Hygeine Certificate deserable however not essential.

Future prospects

Upon completion of the apprenticeship the employer is looking for someone that they can develop ideally for a long term career within the business.

Things to consider

Must be able to travel here each day (Camblesforth, YO8 8HX) and consider the shift patterns. From 1st of April 2017 the National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 or over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. Those between the ages of 19-24 who are in their second year (or third year) need to be paid the National Minimum Wage for their age bracket. In April 2016 the new National Living Wage was implemented and therefore if you are over the age of 25 and in your second or third year of an Apprenticeship you will be entitled to be paid the National Living Wage. Local pub based in Camblesforth. The owners have recently taken over but have 13 years experience in running pubs and have successfully ran 2 other pubs. Have 8 staff.
