    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

We cater every day of the week every week for breakfast, lunch and dinner for either parties, weddings, conferences, hotel guests or even non-residents.

The apprentice could find themselves in the commis chef role completing the following tasks as an example:

  • Cooking breakfast (for 60 it's good for peer pressure)
  • Baking bread for events,
  • Preparing for events,
  • Preparing for the main menu and bar menu,
  • Kitchen porter,
  • Proposing bar specials,
  • learning to work as part of a team,
  • general cleaning duties,
  • manual handling,

Qualifications required

4 – 9 (A - C) Maths and English GCSE or equivalent grades desirable but not essential.

Future prospects

The position could lead into full time employment upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.

Things to consider

Standing all day and working in a hot environment wearing protective clothes. You will be required to work at the weekends. You will be paid the national minimum wage (£3.50) for apprentices for the first month, this will then be increased on a gradual scale as you learn the business and progress.

A fascinating Tudor manor almost unchanged by time. Lovingly restored as a beautiful hotel located on the Warwickshire/Worcestershire borders close to Stratford-upon-Avon. The hotel is Grade I listed for architectural and historical interest and lies in the picturesque Vale of Evesham and half-an-hour from the lovely Cotswolds and Shakespeare country.
