    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Duties to include:

  • Answering calls, diverting calls and taking messages
  • Greeting clients
  • General clerical duties including photocopying and emailing
  • Maintaining filing systems
  • Using Sage Line 50 Accounts system
  • Maintaining office supplies
  • Any other administration work required

Apprenticeship Training
You’ll start at zero with a basic understanding of business administration then work your way through to a Office Administrator, with a job role that includes all aspects of office administration, call handling and business systems. You’ll become confident at using Sage Line 50 and Microsoft Office applications and assist with the day-to-day running of a busy office - all leading to a NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration.
 
Skills you will need
You will have excellent IT skills, a professional telephone manner, excellent command of the English language and it helps to be good with numbers.  Microsoft Office experience is preferred but not essential.  Full training in Microsoft Office, Sage Line 50, plus all other in-house systems relevant to the role will be provided.
 
Qualities you will have
You should have good planning and organisation skills with the ability to prioritise. You should also have a good attention to detail, enjoy problem solving and be capable of working in a team.
