    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Since 1985 the Bassi Family have been pioneers of industry. From humble beginnings Avinash, Nina, Subhash & Manju Bassi started from a single market stall in Nottingham selling women’s clothing, which then quickly grew into a chain of retail clothing stores across the midlands. The family then took another turn which saw the business develop into a wholesale clothing business, distributing famous brands such as Levis & Pepe Jeans. In 2001 the business further progressed with the family starting their own clothing brand DUKE, which also saw the rebranding into The Duke Clothing Co. the final stage of progression has seen the company also becoming a supplier of own-label goods to the world’s largest Brands & Retailers.

Your apprenticeship will include:

  • Technical Certificate in Administration
  • Functional Skills Communication (if applicable)
  • Functional Skills Application of Number (if applicable)

You will be assigned to an Assessor/Tutor who will guide and support you in putting together your NVQ portfolio.

This will involve producing evidence of what you do in the workplace and carry out assessments of your evidence.
