    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

We are looking for a young person to join the accounts/administration department and progress to become an integral part of the team. The position entails some book keeping.

Main duties will include the following

  • Filing - this will also include checking for important documentation in the car sales deal files and making sure that all FCA rules are being adhered to
  • Purchase Ledger - to include registering documents, chasing managers to authorise invoices, passing, reconciling statements and setting invoices ready for payment.
  • Petty cash.
  • Updating the new car stock spreadsheet.
  • Answering phones and covering reception when needed.
  • Invoicing used cars and trade cars.
  • Bring cars into stock and create a file with the relevant paperwork.
  • Transfer cars to other dealerships.

Things to consider

From 1st of April 2017 the National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 or over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. Those between the ages of 19-24 who are in their second year (or third year) need to be paid the National Minimum Wage for their age bracket. In April 2016 the new National Living Wage was implemented and therefore if you are over the age of 25 and in your second or third year of an Apprenticeship you will be entitled to be paid the National Living Wage.
