  • Work with parentscarers of all children to achieve the best learning and care opportunities within the setting
  • Prepare the childrens records in your group and institute reviews for parentscarers in conjunction with EYFS

Qualifications required

  • Grades C or above in Maths & English are preferred but not a neccessity
  • The Nursery requires an apprentice to undertake a Level 2 qualification and a candidate with an existing Level 2 qualification to do a Level 3 apprenticeship.

Future prospects

An apprentice doing a Level 3 qualification will earn £3.89 per hour. On compltion of the 12 month apprenticeship, depending on performance, you be offered a full time position.

About the employer

Paintpots team consists of a mixture of qualified and experienced staff and up to two modern apprentices, all enthusiastic and motivated with every child';s best interests at heart. To ensure best practice the team have regular staff meetings, parent questionnaires, children';s committee and meetings with professionals as well as being able to call upon the support network of the other Paintpots settings.

Daily activities are planned around child';s interests, free play and spontaneous activities such as; painting, role play, construction, junk modelling, outdoor play, races, singing, dancing, sand and water play, reading etc.

All Children also have the use of an ICT room where they have both a desktop, laptop and i-Pad';s. ';Stretch and Grow'; or ';Active Tots'; sessions are run at their settings and they have a large outdoor area with bikes, scooters, soft blocks, balls and hula hoops as well as a climbing frame.

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
