This is an exciting opportunity for a young person who sees their future career as a chef. You will work as part of a team of 8 people in this restaurant/hotel kitchen which serves anything from hotel breakfast to complex dishes from their mediterraean restaurant menu.

Your duties will include:

  • Basic preparation of food, assisting senior chefs with preparing dishes and learning to cook from the basics up.
  • Kitchen cleaning will be part of your role also to understand safety and food hygiene and keep food areas, floors and equipment clean.

As an Apprentice you will be included on a Cookery Qualification. Your Qualification will be delivered by an Award Winning Training Provider who will support your learning and development throughout your Apprenticeship. This will involve a Vocational Learning Advisor coming to visit you on a regular basis to deliver the training and guide you through your Apprenticeship.

You will become a permanent member of the team in the kitchen and continue to progress your knowledge as a chef.

Things to consider

Your shifts could be across days, evenings or weekends. This is located on the way out of Newcastle and Blaydon so you must think about how you will get to and from work. You will complete a level 2 apprenticeship in professional cookery. This will be delivered by a vocational learning advisor over 12 months with visits to the work place every 4 weeks. This vacancy may close early and you may be asked to be interviewed before the date shown, so apply as soon as you can. The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
