As an Apprentice Chef in our kitchen you’ll work alongside some highly experienced and talented individuals who will support you to develop your full potential as a chef.

Everyday will be different and you’ll be given the opportunity to practice a full range of food preparation activities to enable you to gain your qualifications and the skills needed for your future career.

Duties will include:

  • Ensuring the kitchen is kept clean and tidy to promote good health and safety practice.
  • Prepping and preparing foods for service (such as chopping and preparing vegetables).
  • Taking instruction from your Head Chef whilst preparing meals.
  • Ensuring portion size, presentation and preparation is always to a high standard.
  • Working alongside the kitchen team to communicate effectively to operate a smooth service.

Things to consider

The right candidate must be available to work full time hours that will include evenings and weekends. Lots of our hotels are located remotely, so some support may be required to get you to and from work. The role will be fast paced, with long shifts standing in a hot kitchen! The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
