    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Things to consider

The role involves supporting people with learning disabilities in all aspects of their lives from enjoying meals, having a bath, going swimming, out to cafés or the cinema and supporting holidays. The role will eventually involve working shifts, across the seven days of the week. You will be required to complete a DBS check. Please consider the distance from your home and that you can reliably make your way to and from the employer every day taking into account the cost of transport. Under the asylum and Immigration Act 1996, you will be required, if appointed, to provide evidence that you are legally entitled to work in this country.

Training provider

Mainly delivered and assessed in the workplace working towards a Diploma in Health & Social Care (level 2).

There are also off the job workshops to achieve other components of the course and in some circumstances, there may be additional Functional Skills workshops to achieve the required levels of Maths and English at Farnborough College of Technology.
