    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

* Styling hair 

As an Apprentice Barber you will also be responsible for:
*Meeting and greeting customers 
* Making refreshments
* Cleansing equipment 
* Keeping a clean and tidy shop

Qualifications required

GCSE A - C in English or Maths or equivalent qualification. Candidates who achieve Entry Level 3 in functional skills testing at initial assessment with City Training Services will also be considered.

On completion of the Intermediate Apprenticeship, individuals will have the opportunity to apply to progress on to the Advanced Apprenticeship.

Competency qualification: This qualification is delivered through practical and written assignments which are carried out in the classroom and / or in the workplace.  Apprentices will be required to produce work tasks and build a portfolio of evidence.  Knowledge:  This aspect of the course is delivered either in the workplace or classroom.

Functional Skills at level 1 in Maths and English delivered in the classroom

Employment Rights & Responsibilities are delivered via a workbook and completed in the workplace
