    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

About the Job Role

  • Greet visitors
  • Signing in visitors, staff and young people
  • Answer the telephones and taking accurate messages
  • Give information and advice
  • Keep the reception area and office clean and tidy
  • All aspects of administration, including:
  • Checking Diary on a daily basis for meetings, reminding keyworkers of meetings planned.
  • Preparing the offices for meetings
  • Typing of reports, memos, letters
  • Filing
  • Take minutes of meetings & agendas
  • Checking and replying to e-mails on a daily basis
  • The post requires excellent, all round communication skills, an ability to work as a team player, flexibility and someone who is enthusiastic. The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Support Worker, Manager and Managing Director.

Desired skills

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to type letters and other documents Ability to use ICT is essential, with specific reference to Microsoft Word and Excel. A good typing speed with a high level of accuracy Ability to prioritise effectively and to cope with the demands of a busy office Ability to use initiative as well as follow instructions

Qualifications required

GCSE A-D English and Maths or equivalent.

This position will offer an insight and understanding of general administration within a busy office environment in the Health and Social Care sector.

Things to consider

The post is conditional upon a satisfactory enhanced DBS and Barred list check. Primarily computer based work The Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): From April 2017 the ANMW was set at £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
