    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

This position is a great way to start your technical IT career.  Exlen Technology is growing rapidly, so they are looking for an apprentice to work in a fast paced environment, who wants to learn their technical trade.   The aim will be to develop you into a well-rounded IT technician.

You can expect to learn and be involved in tasks such as:

  • Installing new IT systems
  • Communicate and serve customers
  • Manually examine and repair computer hardware and peripheral components
  • Test functionality and assess problems by operating computer systems or related
  • Troubleshoot computer systems problems
  • Take apart and re-assemble computer components and parts
  • Manually set up computer systems and hardware, and install or re-install software programs for computer users
  • Work with colleagues (e.g., other computer repair and maintenance technicians) to resolve computer-related problems (troubleshooting)
  • You will gain varied experience and the more competent you become, the more opportunities you will get to develop yourself and become involved in more complex tasks

• This is a Weekly paid post. • You will receive 20 days’ holiday a year plus Bank Holidays. • Depending on your performance your salary will be reviewed regularly The current National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is £3.50 hour per hour from October 2016. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training. Training provider

You will receive a combination of on and off the job training to give you the skills, knowledge and understanding to gain a Diploma in IT. Where you do not have Grades A-C in a relevant subject, you will work towards Functional skills in maths and English as well as developing your knowledge of employee rights and responsibilities, personal learning, and thinking skills alongside your qualifications.
