Delivery of high standards of care addressing children’s individual care needs (physical, social, emotional and developmental).

  • Familiarity and compliance with nursery policies and procedures
  • Ensuring activities are inclusive of all children
  • Working as part of a team to deliver positive outcomes for children and the nursery
  • Teamwork with other practitioners and team leaders to create an enabling environment where children are encouraged to play, learn and develop
  • Supporting a small group of children as their key person, becoming familiar with their needs and interests and acting as a focal point for all aspects of their care
  • Liaising with parents, providing regular communication and updates, responding to questions and being visible and attentive towards them at drop-off and pick-up times
  • Becoming involved in planning of activities and setting of targets as appropriate
  • Ensuring consistency for all children by showing responsibility in attending regularly, on time and being organised
  • Delivery of the EYFS curriculum through a programme of activities suited to children’s needs and interests as part of a wider room team
  • Meeting children’s individual care needs including intimate care routines, in a consistent and appropriate manner
  • Supporting and contribute to the activities of colleagues
  • Implementation of consistent approaches to behaviour management

The working hours are 39 hours, Monday to Friday.

Things to consider

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
