This role would suit someone who wants on the job experience of working in a PR and comms role and to develop his or her communications skills set, whilst simultaneously furthering their future career development. The role will consist of supporting the Rentokil Initial PR & Communications Manager for the UK and Nordics, and learning about / assisting with all aspects of the PR function.  It will involve working with our PR agencies on proactive media campaigns as well as initiating and implementing internal communications processes.  

Main Responsibilities 
•    Working with the PR Agencies who support each of the Rentokil Initial UK businesses
•    Undertaking weekly Google hangouts and meetings (as required) with the PR agencies
•    Inputting to the Rolling Communications Plan for each business
•    Helping to compile the PR slides for the Monthly Marketing slide deck which is shared with the senior management team
•    Proofing and correcting press releases and media statements
•    Keeping the press sections on each of the business intranets up to date
•    Collating all press coverage generated and sharing this success on G+
•    Helping to coordinate, manage and run business and public events
•    Sourcing and ordering promotional giveaways
•    Discussing and progressing creative ideas for promoting the Rentokil, Initial, Ambius and Peter Cox brands
•    Working with Key Account Managers for the Rentokil and Initial brands to design and update customer documentation with the correct branding
•    Assisting with photographic and video shoots (ad hoc)
•    Taking bookings for and coordinating event equipment (i.e. gazebos / literature stands / tables / product displays)
•    Keeping an overview on all things brand-related from van livery, to frontline colleague uniform and printed material
•    Acting as a point of contact for the PR Agencies when the PR & Communications Manager is away from the office

Qualifications required

3 x GCSE (or equivalent) at grades A-C in any subject plus GCSE English and Maths (or equivalents) at grade D or above

Advanced Opportunities: • Social Media – for the right candidate and when they are ready to progress, then there is scope to take on a social media role for some of our businesses – monitoring SM feeds for competitors and helping to shape our own activity in this area • Newsletter Development – there is an aspiration for a number of our businesses to provide a regular customer e-newsletter and this is already in place for Initial Medical (every other month). Taking a lead on this project would provide real experience of the process from content creation to newsletter design

Approximately 12% of training takes place in the QA learning centre classroom. 8% is done in the workplace, through workplace units, face-to-face meetings with your QA Assessor, or developing your portfolio. The remaining time will be spent on your workplace activity.
