The Appointment

Located in the picturesque Nottinghamshire village of Halam, close to Southwell, the Waggon is a small country pub that offers a cosmopolitan dining experience in a delightful rural setting away from the hustle and bustle of the city

Edward and his team welcome customers to The Waggon to share in their passion for delicious, locally sourced food, award winning cask ales and great wines.The emphasis at The Waggon is very much on creating a relaxing atmosphere for guests to enjoy the company of family and friends for a special occasion or simply a drink and a long overdue catch up. Everyone will enjoy the same warm welcome and glorious food whether you are having a snack in the bar or are eating in our inviting Parlour

Main duties and responsibilities include:

  • Opening the restaurant and bar ready for service
  • Meet and greet customers with a friendly welcome
  • Service a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages
  • Prepare and serve a range of hot drinks
  • Take orders and process transactions accurately
  • Serve food to the table
  • Clear tables and provide exceptional customer service
  • Learn cellar management
  • Learn about various wines in order to make recommendations
  • Clean down after service
  • Maintain a good level of cleanliness and work to hygienic practices
  • Enjoy what you do and do what you enjoy

Applicants will be required to attend an Assessment Centre with Vision Apprentices as part of the screening process

Qualifications required

  • GCSE Grades A to C or equivalent are essential, specifically Maths and English, 2017 grading system, grade 9 – grade 4

The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent training.
